Can I install a Direct tv dish indoors?
Yes. The dish can be placed indoors, pointing through most glass windows, if the setting offers a clear view of the southern sky.
Can I install a DirecTV dish myself?
Yes, you can use the installation manuals but professional installation is especially recommended with Direct tv Multi-Satellite dishes, becauso of their critical pointing and more complicated wiring requirements.

How do I get free professional installation for my Direct tv System?
You will receive from most online retailers a package deal where your installation is included. To get a free installation you usually will need to sign up for 12 months of service.
Why does Direct tv require an access card?
The access card is like a "pass key" for your system, it gives you access to the Direct tv digital highway.
If I move, can I take the receiving equipment with me?
Yes. As long as you move within the continental United States. If you move to Alaska or Hawaii you may need new receiving equipment. Also if you commit to 12 months of any TOTAL CHOICE® programming package you will receive a free satellite dish, a standard professional installation of your satellite dish and your existing receivers at your new home.
Can I hook up multiple TVs to one Direct tv receiver or do I need one receiver for each TV in the house?
Yes. You can watch multiple TVs from a single Direct tv receiver. But you do have to watch the same channel and you will also lose the stereo sound.
How much will DirecTV service cost me each month?
The basic TOTAL CHOICE with Local Channels programming package, which includes over 115 channels, is just $37.99 per month. The cost to "mirror" that service to additional receivers in your home is $4.99 per receiver (as long as you keep all your receivers continuously connected to the same land-based phone line).
Can I get HDTV with any DitectTV System?
Yes, but in order to receive HDTV broadcasts, you need a slightly larger 18" x 24" oval Direct tv Multi-Satellite dish as well as a special receiver that decodes HDTV signals.
Do I have to connect my receiver to my phone line ?
The system uses the phone line to transmit programming purchase information like pay-per-view movies, special season sports programming and other shows from the receiver to Direct tv. You can choose not to connect your receiver to your phone line but an extra charge of $5 will be apply on every phone order.

What high definition programming is DirecTV broadcasting ?
DirecTV introduced HBO® HDTV in August 1999. The channel airs continuously and delivers on DirecTv channel 509. In November 1999, DIRECTV introduced a second HDTV channel -- 199 -- featuring pay per view movies and events in high definition format.
How does the DirecTV Interactive service work?
The service works through special programs and commercials on selected DirecTV channels. You'll know a program is enhanced when you see an "I" symbol on your screen. The program will also deliver additional entertainment and electronic shopping services.

What about Internet Access ?
DirecTV offer two main Internet Access Services: DIRECTV DSL and DIRECWAY. DIRECTV DSL is an always on* high speed Internet connection that uses the phone line but allows you to talk and surf the web at the same time. DIRECWAY is a satellite-based Internet service and a great option for customers who don't live in areas that offer land-based web connections.

What is the Locks & Limits (parental controls) feature on DirecTV ?

Is the DirecTV transmission compatible with surround-sound technologies?
The DirecTV System is compatible with Dolby Pro Logic Surround-Sound and Dolby Digital (AC-3 Audio). To get true surround-sound, you will need a Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital surround-sound processing unit. Basically, you will be able to experience surround-sound with DirecTV if your home theater system has surround-sound capabilities.

What's the difference between Dish Network and DirecTV satellite?
Both Dish Network and Direct TV are comparable as far as quality of service and pricing.
The main difference is in programming choices. Dish Network offers more international channels and more adult programming choices such as TeN (The Erotic Network) and Extasy.
Direct TV offers 55 pay-per-view channels where Dish Network has about 20 pay-per-view channels.
Personal Video Recording ability (the ability to record programs to your satellite receiver hard drive as well as pause and rewind live tv) is included with Dish Network's monthly subscription. This is a separate service with Direct TV.
