The most important is to position a Direct TV Satellite Dish. You must be familiar with the terms elevation and azimuth to set your dish properly. The elevation is the angular distance of the satellites above the horizon in relation to your dish.
Elevation, simply put, is the up-and-down positioning. The azimuth is defined as the horizontal direction expressed as the angular distance between the direction of the satellites and the direction of the dish. This would be the left-to-right positioning of your dish.

Direct TV Satellite Dish Tip: The hardware is easy to install. In almost any outdoor location as long as it has an unobstructed view to the south, the dish can be installed.
You will need to make sure there is a clear line of the sight toward the southern sky with no obstructions between the Direct TV Satellites and satellite dish, since direct tv programming is digitally transmitted by way of the air lane.
This means no buildings, trees or any other obstructions. You may request to have an authorized installer come to your location for a fee to verify your installation options, if you are uncertain.
Everything you need its in included in the self-installation kit. A useful on-screen satellite locator and signal strength meter simplifies the dish positioning process.
The dish receives all programming from one position in the sky. So, the dish remains in one location, minimizing maintenance and eliminating the need for satellite tuning and repositioning.
